I just upgraded my old degrading Belkin N52, to a new Razer nostromo today. I installed the current drivers and firmware and set all my bindings as they were on my N52. When I am in game in BF3, I use my d-pad for movement. As I push forward on the d-pad and I'm running, I push left or right to strafe and instead of rolling into and out of a strafe, while going diagonally as well, it will stop and go directly left or right. In order to go forward again I have to release on the d-pad and press forward again. this is making it IMPOSSIBLE to play. I tested the settings on several other games and it works fine on them, so it is something in BF3. any ideas, please help me get back to the slaughter.

Same scenario for me too!
Most of the web guff say to roll back to earlier drivers such as 1.3 or 1.1.
I tried without success. I have noted that it appears to fix things for users that never had a Belkin N52, but it didn't for those that did.
I believe the problem is old Belkin N52 drivers are in the system.
I am re-installing the Belkin, then in Device Manager, uninstalling the drivers BEFORE uninstalling the Belkin software.
Then re-installing the Razer Nostromo with version 1.1 drivers.
Note in any case, everyone says that the Razer 2.x drivers buggered their functioning D-Pad.
I will try to update if I get this working, otherwise it is being returned.

I know this isn't particularly helpful toward your issue, but have you tried playing BF with a traditional WSAD style control setup on your keypad? I think you'll find it easier to move like that, I have the same keypad (the older version though) and I just use the D-Pad for weapon switching.

I have the same issue with the Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710. I would love to use the WSAD keys, but I'm handicaped so I'm stuck using the D-Pad. I was able to play all of the other Battlefield games with no issues.

Yupp, I have the same issue with my Razer Nostromo, and have had to resort to going back to the n52 JUST for BF3 - all other games work fine with the Razer.

Has this been fixed in BF3 yet?

This is still broken..just found out after after trying with a Razer Nostromo after my n52TE broke :(
The Razer works in every other game I play but diagonals don't work in BF3.
With the Belkin n52TE I had to disable the diagonals on the d-pad to make it work..with the Razer edition nothing helps.
I haven't tried rolling back the drivers yet..I'd rather not roll back drivers for ONE game if I can avoid it.
(update: I finally bit the bullet and rolled back the drivers to v1.03. This fixed the issue and the Razer Nostromo d-pad diagonals now work. You will also need to set your diagonals to 'disabled' in your Nostromo software.
I have found no problems with other games after rolling back the drivers but then again I didn't have any problems with them previously either. I was worried that rolling back the drivers might introduce other problems that had been fixed, that does not seem to be an issue. I haven't seen any other differences in the way I am using the Nostromo. Your mileage may vary. Rolling back the drivers to 1.03 seems to be the only solution to this issue.
As one final note of clarification, this is ONLY for the Razer version of the Nostromo. Users of the n52TE belkin made edition should be able to use diagonals by simply setting the digonals to 'off' in their Nostromo software. No driver rollback needed.)
I have seen that the new Razer Orbweaver (newest version of the Nostromo but with a new name) is having the same diagonals issue, but with no drivers to roll back to it just flat won't work. If anyone figures out a fix or if they update their drivers to fix this problem with BF3, please post as I don't want to upgrade my device until I am sure it will work properly.
Thanks in advance, hope this info helps some folks.

The 1.03 driver worked for me as well. I just bought BF 3 (I know, BEYOND fashionably late) and I'm using the Razer model and was really getting fed up as the D-pad worked fine for movement in every other game I own. However, I left the diagonals enabled because I prefer the greater degree of motion and the dead spots I've encountered while having diagonals off is a real pain. Movement is much smoother now.

Well, after a BF4 update, the Orbweaver diagonals no longer work. I guess that's that then. No support of DICE or Razer as neither of them want to come to the table and fix this. Sick of it TBH..
