About Our Founder

Georgette Yakman is known for conducting the research and developing the STEAM educational framework. Her current research expertise is expanding that structure to cross-connect common practices and patterns across the subject areas.

STEAM Education provides the framework used for connecting the growing network of educational disciplines, businesses, and communities to create adaptable citizen-involved, globally-responsible, reality-based programs.

She is sought out to talk about general and specific applications of the STEAM platform for audiences of students, academics, businesses, policy-makers, and communities on FUNctional and inspiring topics.

Georgette has been called dynamic and leaves audiences thinking about their own experiences and influences with education, invention, entrepreneurship, and life in new and deeper ways.

As international regions look to diversify their economies, they are also adopting the STEAM framework. She became a consultant helping to develop programs globally. She has been recognized by many groups with international awards, speaking invitations, interviews, and articles.

She developed the framework in 2006 and began implementation in 2007 as an MS/HS Engineering & Technology teacher. She was soon president of her state teaching organization and named Teacher of the Year with a regional technological business group. She transitioned from teaching to offering professional development for educators and within a couple of years was awarded the Big Ideas Fest recognition by the Gates and Qatar Foundations and invited to Korea where her platform was adopted across the nation in 2011.

Prior to her last 12 years working in education, she worked as an architectural designer and VP of a clothing company in the US and Ecuador and has been involved in music and festival production start-ups.

She holds a Clothing and Textiles B.S. from the Dept. of Near Environments, a Technology Education MaEd. and an Integrated STEM post-master’s degree all from Virginia Polytechnic.
